Patrick Shiroishi - Hidemi, I Shouldn’t Have to Worry When My Parents Go Outside ![]() I saw the band and title of this and knew immediately that it would kick ass. Nice and easy indie pop record with a chill vibe. Sprawling, all over the map in terms of sounds and influences but it all comes together nicely. Powerful spoken word with a seriously amazing band of musicians.Īcoustic guitar record from one of the masters. Irreversible Entanglements - Open the Gates Trippy psychedelic pop/ambient record from Matthew “Doc” Dunn and Mr. More kickass blues, you know what you’re getting here and it’s awesome. Guitar drone and electronic effects make for a total head trip. Just heard Mendoza for the first time this year… A true guitar hero, seriously check this out. John Dwyer - Witch Egg, Endless Garbage, Moon Drenched and Gong Splatįour albums that add up to one monstrous record of crazy funk/noise. Huge melodic sound with great songwriting. Every note from beginning to end is perfect. Pelt style drones throughout, with some gorgeous pedal steel and banjo narratives really taking it somewhere nice. Gorgeous ambient/jazz/everything record from Senegalese and Swedish collaborators. There is a tremendous emotional quality to their playing. I expected some noise and wasn’t at all prepared for how moving this music is. Side project from two brothers in Bardo Pond. Simply amazing record with krautrock, electronic and noise guitar influences.įantastic country/rock album from a relative newcomer with a tremendous sound. Six Organs of Admittance - The Veiled Sea My most-listened to record of the year just always sounds good, no matter what the mood. ![]() Guitar pyrotechnics on a ridiculous scale… Blows me away every time. Les Filles de Illighadad - At Pioneer WorksĪmazing live performance from these masters of hypnotic vocals. Fully realized mix of progressive and jazz/improvisational influences. These true psychedelic maniacs came up with their best album! Sunburned Hand of the Man - Pick a Day to Die I added short descriptions in case it helps encourage others to check something out.
